First Thing’s First — October 21 Meeting Recap

Jackie TM

“What are three things that are important to you?”

Toastmaster Jackie challenged us with a speech and demonstration on how to put things important to us first and letting little things (like regular routine) fill on its own, and everything will fit. That being said, we can no longer put aside that next speech or joining a Toastmasters club!

Our first speaker for tonight, Andrew, interpretively read Pierre Elliot Trudeau’s 1982 speech called “The Constitution,” touching on Canada’s many rights and freedoms. Our second speaker was guest speaker Deborah Austin, who made a keynote speech with five big points on overcoming obstacles to becoming a dynamic public speaker. Many of our members can relate to at least one of these five obstacles. The main message she passes on is to keep a service mindset. To find out more details about her, please visit her website.

Mohammed led a lively Table Topics Session, as we had a great turn out with guests tonight, many got to participate. The questions were about simple things that we may overlook in a day but should recognize. Jackie won with her speech on embracing change.
