Cool Points — May 18 Meeting Recap

Our Toastmaster Wes demonstrated the impact your words can have on those around you. Luke gave his best Skywalker impression during the tale of his humble beginnings on Tatooi— err, Earth, while Mohammed persuaded us to consider citizen journalism as the coolest way to consume news. Finally, District 60 Director Elton Brown presented a workshop on how to write your next speech. Very cool!

Congrats to Jill and Stanley, who were inducted as our newest members and presented with their shiny new CC & CL manuals!

Progress — May 11 Meeting Recap

Are YOU making progress?

As our Toastmaster, John shared his progress over more than 6 years in Toastmasters, culminating in his recent Advanced Communicator Silver award. Maria delivered a research-driven presentation on the progress being made on Ontario’s shoreline, while Bob told a thrilling tale about his mysterious stomach surgery (and his alien suspicions). Wes won Table Topics with his own take on our “Earthly” progress.

Congrats to Luke, inducted as our newest member!

Live YOUR Life — May 4 Meeting Recap

In his Star Wars Day-themed introduction, Toastmaster Mark inspired us to be like Luke: follow your dreams and don’t let anyone get in your way. Lakshman followed with a practical method for achieving those dreams — on time and on schedule — while Arash’s tips on approaching strangers will help us achieve them in the real world. Finally, our guest speaker Sean shared three words of wisdom from his own Obi-wan: his mother.

Congrats to Jordan, who won Table Topics by professing his love for Toronto’s sports teams!
