A Helping Hand — Jan 20 Meeting Recap

Jan 20 John

Have you helped someone recently?

As our Toastmaster, John shared how helping a family of refugees get started in their new life in Canada actually helped him grow and gain perspective. Then, our new VP Education Be helped us understand the two streams in Toastmasters (communication & leadership) and encouraged us to set our goals for 2016 (hint: email her).

Arash’s Icebreaker speech took us halfway around the world, to Israel, where he helped out a non-profit as a volunteer, while Maxim’s speech took us to a kitchen, an irate spouse, and a lesson on body language. Finally, Mohammed gave a dramatic turn as two little people and two mice on a quest for missing cheese — proving that Toastmasters does indeed help!

A special good-bye to Maxim, who gave his final speech at our club before moving to the ‘burbs. He’s improved so much in the past year, he even won Table Topics! Good luck, Maxim.

NEXT WEEK: “Make up your mind!”
Wes will be our Toastmaster, and we’ll hear speeches from Cristina, our guest speaker Pranay, and Karoline.
