The past is the past, can’t change it. Or can you?

This Wednesday, enter our time machine and revisit the glory days of the Feb. 3 speech & evaluation contest! If you missed it, this will be your second chance to catch our speech contestants as they prep for the Area Contest — they’ll need your help and feedback to improve.

And if you missed your chance at participating in the evaluation contest, we’ll be revising history with an open call for contestants…. and a brand new target speaker. Anyone can enter!

Commitment — Feb 10 Meeting Recap

It was a night full of commitments…

After our Toastmaster James shared the story of his courtship and eventual commitment to the love of his life — Liberty Village Toastmasters — two of our newest members showed their own commitment to improving themselves by presenting their Icebreakers. Bob used the “Law of Attraction” to outline his plan for making impossible dreams come true, while Jordan inspired us to make every effort in life a 10 out of 10. Finally, Be led an interactive, vocal-chord-strengthening workshop that committed everyone to making their voice matter!

Congrats to our returning guest Zoey, who won a competitive round of Table Topics that included every one of our guests, and of course, to Bob & Jordan, who were officially inducted as the newest members of our club. Check out the videos of their induction below…

International Speech & Evaluation Contest — Feb 3 Recap

It was the contest to end all contests…

Chaired by past president Karoline and chief judge Be, the night began with an inspirational speech contest, with James and Mark both showing how far they’ve really come as Toastmasters. After an enlightening target speech by special guest Maria, our evaluation contestants — Des, Alexei, James, Wes, Cristina, and Mark — each gave us a unique point of view with their feedback.

The winners will advance to the Area-level Contest on the evening of Tues March 1st, location TBA. Save the date!

Make up your mind! — Jan 27 Meeting Recap

How do you conquer indecisiveness?

First-time Toastmaster Wes made up his mind about making quicker decisions, from what to wear in the morning to finally joining Toastmasters. Cristina used the “rubber band technique” to go with black shoes over brown, while guest speaker Pranay simply followed his heart, to Canada. And in a speech by management, Karoline decided to go easy on Mark, making up her mind about being a good boss.

Congrats to Cristina, who checked “standing ovation” off her bucket list while being inducted as our newest member, and Jordan, whose confidence in Table Topics helped us… make up our minds!
